A Boy and His Sailboat

The short movie produced in collaboration with Phipps Philms, Twice Owned, was nominated for Best Short as a Finalist in the Christian Worldview Film Festival this March.  Johnathan Schutz (visual effects artist) and Benjamin Owen (producer) were present for the movie screenings and awards event. Audiences commented on its “good story arc” and liked the “watercolor effects”.  In the following month, Twice Owned was awarded an Honorable Mention by The Attic Film Festival, also held in Texas.

“We wanted to produce something for low-cost ministry use,” Owen explained, “and we hope it will provide a good starting point for presenting the Gospel.” The short film and bonus videos are free to view online, including the study guide.

Most recently, Twice Owned was selected for the GloryReelz Christian Film Festival where it received the award for Best Short Film.  “I’m really proud of the finished movie.” said director, Caleb Phipps, who is delighted with the GloryReelz recognition.  Many people volunteered time and property for the making of this movie.  And lead actor, Stone Davis, put in a long weekend for this production.

Twice Owned was designed as a package — with study guide, etc — because we didn’t want to leave the allegory of redemption unexplained.” says Owen.  The bonus content includes a video presentation about the allegory of the sailboat, and a printed study guide helps bring out the meaning behind Twice Owned.  In another of the bonus videos, Caleb Phipps, takes viewers behind the scenes for a glimpse into the heart of Twice Owned.

“Twice Owned presents the essential message of the Gospel in such a clear and creative way,” says music composer, David Michael Hyde. “I am honored to be associated with such a powerful tool that brings glory to Christ and helps expand His Kingdom.”

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. (Isaiah 45:22)
